My male lorikeet recently died of a virus so before I looked for another male, I kept an eye on my female for a week and a half to make sure she was healthy. Almost 2 weeks after my male died, the female laid 2 eggs. I am not sure of the exact dates but I think anytime over the next week they should hatch (if they are fertile). If they hatch:

  • will it be a problem for her being on her own without a mate to help?
  • will it be a problem if I leave one baby with her and hand-rear the second one?
  • if I hand-rear, at what age do I remove it from the nest?
  • if I leave the babies in the aviary, will they fight when they get older?
  • if I leave them all to grow up together in the aviary, will I still be able to introduce another male to my female?

Sorry for all the questions but I want to do what's best for my Lorrie!
