Feeding Apples to Rainbow Lorikeets

My rainbow lorikeets favourite is apples. I give them an apple every second day. As you probably know the lorikeets have problems to chew through the skin - so an entire apple is hard to get started on. On the other hand if you chop the apple to pieces it will be rotting by the end of the day.

I feed my lorikeets their apples impaled on the end of a twig in their aviary. With a peeler I take a bit of the skin off - and they will do the rest. Heaps of entertainment.
