In their courting rituals, male Rainbow Lorikeets are very noisy and try to impress the female with bobbing up and down while shrieking.
Once settled in they breed easily if you provide them with a suitable nesting box - it has to be big enough and should have saw dust and wood chips on the floor. When the rainbow lorikeet pair starts breeding they become aggressive, defending their territory and the breeding box. On average they will lay 2 eggs and sit on them for 10 weeks before the baby lorikeets hatch. If you plan to hand rear the young birds, take them from their parents once they are 2 weeks old.
