Next time you health check your rainbow lorikeets, check for little specks of "dirt" in the flight feathers - you may need to treat for feather mites if you find those. Feather mites are generally harmless but bothersome for your rainbow lorikeets. They will cause some damage to plumage of your lorikeets if they appear excessively.
Use a locally available avian insect liquidator, treat according to instructions of the product. Clean your rainbow lorikeets cages including perches and nesting boxes by spraying with the diluted product. Repeat after 5 weeks to get rid of the rest of the mites and kills all newly hatched mites thus breaking the circle of reproduction.
Your birds will be much happier!!
